About Jesuit Sources at the Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies
The Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies (IAJS) seeks to deepen an understanding and appreciation of the history, spirituality, educational heritage, and pedagogical approach of the Society of Jesus through courses, workshops, publications, and scholarly symposia.
The Institute offers collaborative opportunities for scholars from around the world in order to promote a network of scholars engaged in the expanding field of Jesuit Studies.
Founded in 1961, the Institute of Jesuit Sources, specializes in preserving, maintaining, and expanding for scholars around the world important texts and studies in Jesuit history, spirituality, and pedagogy. The Institute of Jesuit Sources moved to Boston College’s Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies on December 1, 2014. It publishes Jesuit primary sources, monographs on the Jesuits, and auxiliary literature in Jesuit Studies. It currently features more than 150 volumes, including:
- Jesuit primary sources in English translation
- Foreign publications on Jesuits in English translation
- Research tools in Jesuit studies
- Pastoral resources for the Spiritual Exercises in English and Spanish
In 2019, Jesuit Sources inaugurated a new imprint: IJS Studies–Research on Jesuits and the Society of Jesus, seeking to serve as a reputable addition of academic works to the rich catalogue of source materials at the Institute.
