Product Overview

Finding Christ in the World invites the reader to “let God show you where and how He concretely breaks into your life.” A 12–week prayer experience framed by the Spiritual Exercises, the book is of particular help to faith communities such as Bible study and prayer groups. But individuals can also use it as a means of prayer. The instructions for retreat invite a “conversion of heart from a tight focus on one’s self to a graced focus on God–with–us.” The book includes questions and prompts for reflection (for example, “When I think about God listening to me, I want to tell him…”), and guidelines for reviewing each week of prayer. We have improved the 2017 edition with curl-resistant front and back covers.

    "Finding Christ in the World"

Posted by Madeleine Prendergast on Oct 26th 2020

Only a few days in, I'm deriving so much from this retreat. I was awed by these opening remarks from Fr. Beaumier: We believe that when our interior is strong, when our interior is robust, that we can be very effective in the way that we live and move and have our being. Spiritual Exercises are made in order to help free us from any sort of disordered affection so that we can make good decisions in our lives.... We believe that when our spiritual senses are in sync with our physical senses, that that is our pinnacle of the imitation of Christ in many ways. I'm also awed by the book "Finding Christ in the World". The text is vigorous, robust and delicate, all at the same time. Every word must have been considered. The sentences are easy and concise, but each is profound. Simply by reading the opening material, I trusted the authors as experienced guides. I love the material and I look forward each day to my time with the Lord.

This book (Finding Christ in the World) is serving me as a refresher on the full Ignation Spiritual Exercises done 25 years ago.

This is helping me return to a daily prayer practice which has a focus to if. Some of the 12 weeks are difficult and somewhat challenging to grasp but, for the most part, the spiritual invitations to forge a lasting bond with and accountability to God and Jesus are well developed and certainly contemporary in application. I feel fortunate to have found this resource.

Time to get closer to Jesus

I have found this very inspiring and uplifting. I find that going to prayer with the same reading for two days helps to re-enforce the message of the reading. I'm glad to be a part of this virtual retreat.

    Retreat Material

The retreat book is well bound. The pages are strong enough for journaling on. The content had a good introduction and clear description of how to do the retreat.

I have participated in the Ignatian SpiriutalExercise for the past 4 years as a 32 week retreat. I’m in the second week of this 12 week retreat and find it beautifully capturing the essence of the exercises! I feel like it is a great introduction to Ignatian spirituality.
