Product Overview
Review for Religious, published by Jesuits of the Missouri Province from 1942 through 2012, featured articles on a wide range of topics relevant to religious life. This is the fourth in the Best of the Review series, a collection of 29 essays on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius and their application to modern times. Organized according to such topics as Vision, Movement, and Discernment, this volume includes Tad Dunne’s “Realism in Ignatius of Loyola” (on the saint’s “extraordinarily matter–of–fact approach to the events narrated in the Gospels”), John P. Mossi’s “The Spirituality of Surrender” (on “the invitation to surrender one’s unmanageable life to God”), and Geoffrey B. Williams’s two essays on “The Path of Contemplation” (“We learn to face death in prayer and to face that sense of being totally dependent upon life beyond our control”). Applicable to daily life, Contemporary Annotations is also designed to guide leaders of Ignatian retreats that incorporate the Spiritual Exercises.
