The Daily Examen of St. Ignatius, derived from The Spiritual Exercises, is a 10 to 20 minute prayer that should be undertaken at least once a day. The Examen is designed for restful contemplation, and this version is adapted to the demands of contemporary life. Prayer for Finding God in All Things includes a Foreword by Avery Cardinal Dulles, diverse quotations from the Scriptures as well as distinguished spiritual writers, and a selection of possible closing prayers. Dulles writes, "[T]his booklet can be a godsend. Following the true spirit of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Sister Joan L. Roccasalvo, C.S.J. shows how the daily examen, moving beyond conventional moralism, can contribute to a loving relationship with God and blend into a prayer of trustful gratitude."

Sr. Joan Roccasalvo's new edition of Prayer for Finding God in All Things is magnificent. I recently re-read the original and the new edition. Although I will cherish the original edition, the new edition features easier-to-read font and highlights various key scripture passages. Sr. Joan's suggestions about daily prayer are on point. She provides simple and clear insight as to where, when, and how to pray. The revised edition also contains an updated "self" section, which helps the reader to better engage in prayer. We extend our thanks to Sr. Joan for this excellent work, which we will pray with time and again.
