This illustrated guidebook presents 16 sites in Beijing that represent the presence and work of the Jesuits there. Arranged in a sequence to accompany visitors during five daylong tours, the book offers a historic overview as well as attention to practical details, such as bus routes and directions for taxi drivers. Each site is covered in a separate chapter, with a summary of its historical background and a reflection on its contemporary significance. Four appendices provide information on the most famous Jesuits in Beijing, the most famous Chinese converts, Chinese dynasties and emperors, and key milestones of the Jesuit presence in Beijing.
