Hearts on Fire compiles 117 prayers, written by some 40 Jesuits from the time of the foundation of the Society through today. Some are paraphrases of material in the Spiritual Exercises; others are practical applications that grew out of retreat meditations. The prayers are organized within four “weeks” of the Exercises, but each group of selections is eclectic and diverse. The prayer of a Jesuit steeped in the piety of the 17th century may appear next to that of a modern social reformer, for example; a theologian’s reflections may follow thoughts of a parish priest. This product is also available in Spanish.

This little book was my first introduction to Ignatian Spirituality, and I have given away many copies to our sons and daughters, friends, and directees. A lot of wonderful material and prayers to relish in a very small package.

This collection of prayers are so touching and life affirming I have one copy by my bedside and another in my purse. I have given lots of these little books as presents.

One of these prayers can focus your mind and heart on the important things in life and gently move the mind to the heart of God and God's plan. Perfect for a meditation. Wonderful writing!
