Product Overview
Hearts on Fire compiles 117 prayers, written by some 40 Jesuits from the time of the foundation of the Society through today. Some are paraphrases of material in the Spiritual Exercises; others are practical applications that grew out of retreat meditations. The prayers are organized within four “weeks” of the Exercises, but each group of selections is eclectic and diverse. The prayer of a Jesuit steeped in the piety of the 17th century may appear next to that of a modern social reformer, for example; a theologian’s reflections may follow thoughts of a parish priest. This product is also available in Spanish.

A wonderful resource of written prayer. Each year we buy copies of this for approximately 30 individuals who are praying the Spiritual Exercises with us through the Bridges Foundation in St. Louis.

5 Hearts on Fire
Posted by Dr Eric S Nubla Jr on Jun 26th 2023
There have been many compilations of essential Jesuits proper to the Society of Jesus. As a novice I recall using one such edition printed in India. Later we used one called “For Jesuits “ . This contemporary version has been an inseparable companion with the breviary which are the stuff of my daily prayers. I appreciate very much the contemporary prayers and resources, but I miss the prayers like the litanies and the litanies of specific Jesuit Saints like Sts Ignatius and Stanislaus.

This is a lovely little prayer book. I ordered it to get a reading for a memorial service. I was pleased to find the poem/prayer You Have Called Me by Name, by Joseph Tetlow, SJ. Thank you.

5 Hearts on Fire and Geger's A Pilgrim's Testament
Posted by greg richard on Sep 3rd 2020
I loved them both. I give Hearts on Fire to all our new faculty and staff at St John's Jesuit. I use it with many of our faculty staff who are going through the Exercises. Geger's book was very insightful. I have read and studied the biography of Ignatius many times. Geger's has some wonderful insights.
