Hearts on Fire: Praying with Jesuits

Although I’ve only used this new book a few times, I am very pleased with the selection of prayers…they prompt me toward a good time of reflection.

Although a "Dyed in the wool" Protestant, raised in the faith in a very literal, fundamentalism, this booklet introduced me to writers of "True Faith" whose prayers opened up a new world of understanding and knowing God. I highly recommend it to every seeker of genuine faith. July 5, 2024

Excellent overview for those steeped in Ignatian Spirituality and introduction for those new to this approach. Refreshingly diverse, including prayers, meditations, poems, updates of old favorites, e.g. the Principle and Foundation, from both recognized luminaries and unheralded Black Robes. A great source for bedtime prayer.

This book should not be retired from circulation. An excellent book on prayers that can be used over a lifetime

The selections cover many human desires, needs and feelings toward God.

A wonderful resource of written prayer. Each year we buy copies of this for approximately 30 individuals who are praying the Spiritual Exercises with us through the Bridges Foundation in St. Louis.

There have been many compilations of essential Jesuits proper to the Society of Jesus. As a novice I recall using one such edition printed in India. Later we used one called “For Jesuits “ . This contemporary version has been an inseparable companion with the breviary which are the stuff of my daily prayers. I appreciate very much the contemporary prayers and resources, but I miss the prayers like the litanies and the litanies of specific Jesuit Saints like Sts Ignatius and Stanislaus.
